Huge congratulations to Astatine Trio and Duo Domo (pictured performing last night) who share first prize at this year's competition! The Grand Final also featured a wonderful performance from Trio Havisham. Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Still available to watch here: fb.me/e/8hQ2QUKKR
Memories of a memorable evening Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Duo Domo, Astatine Trio and Trio Havisham playing superbly in our Grand Final.

For the listener more used to hearing these sonatas on a modern piano, daniel tong coaxes a remarkably rich range of details and colours from the fortepiano. Resonus Classics #Beethoven #PianoSonatas
It feels almost personal that BBC News (UK) (yes, BBC) reports that of 17 notable 2023 deaths in music, 0 were classical musicians. Especially demoralising that one of my great inspirations, Radu Lupu, was not worthy of mention. BBC Radio 3 BBC Music Magazine bbc.co.uk/news/extra/o8x…
I keep going back to daniel tong’s new disc. It gives me so much pleasure - and I’ve now got Vol 1 of the Beethoven sonatas (my very old ABRSM edition!) open on my piano
Over the years I have played a lot of Beethoven. So I added a web page about it: danieltong.com/daniel_tong_be… Resonus Classics SOMM RECORDINGS John Suchet Royal Birmingham Conservatoire
Bit of Mozart with Jennifer Pike and yours truly at around 2 hrs of this afternoon's show on BBC Radio 3. Must be over 10 years ago now, a different life 😊 But lovely memories. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
Really looking forward to this! If you happen to be in town a week on Saturday... Mathilde Milwidsky Ben Tarlton Kensington Chamber Orchestra
If you're in London tomorrow, do come along to this. Mathilde Milwidsky and Ben Tarlton are stunning partners, as are the fabulous Kensington Chamber Orchestra with Orlando Jopling. And Beethoven, of course, is what we all need at the moment.
Nothing more nerve-wracking than playing in your own college Royal Birmingham Conservatoire but really looking forward to this with the amazing Richard Jenkinson and the British Police Symphony Orchestra. I wonder what Shostakovich would have thought about his music being played by the police?
