What chance have small specialist nursery’s like myself self got these days ……… can’t afford to heat greenhouses… no water…. No decent compost ….. nothing to control pests with……. No fertilisers maybe…. Soon no bloody flower shows….. what are we supposed to do……?

We got our first Chelsea gold back in 2004 ……. God I wouldn’t want to be starting now…

I’ve just trimmed off last year’s growth….. it then goes through the shredder and used as a mulch….

This is a small selection of ferns we’ll be taking to Helmingham hall on the 18th of September many of which I’ve done my self from spores….

When you grow your own ferns from spores you never know how they are going to turn out… but 50% have turned out not unlike the parent plant…. These will be going to Helmingham plant sale on the 18th …someone will be lucky they are gorgeous (though i say myself)….

So it’s been just over a year since the pond was finished….. and finally the best of all visitors a king fisher ….
