Pleased to be able to attend the European Ageing Conference in Athens as a guest of the European Ageing Network and to be meeting some old and new colleagues - Jiri Horecky opening with a session on what are the core skills required for #agedcare now and in the future.

Prof Freek Lapre in an engaging presentation argues for the need to re-cast skills in #agedcare to take account of a change of era, current challenges in sector and need to de-medicalise, be more inclusive and address opportunities of technology.

Interesting and insightful session on #reablement with the first speaker Prof Tine Rostgaard from Roskilde University in Denmark. She emphasises the Danish approach to #homecare and the urgent need with demographic change to re conceive care at home esp with changes to families.

We need to transform the way we commission #homecare - in some sense this is a return to the essence of support and care - doing with not for. It’s cost effective and people-positive! And staff seem to like it according to Danish research. #agedcare
