We are currently in Hornsund, Svalbard, conducting field work with little auks. But today we had a special visitor! Martyna Syposz Kasia Wojczulanis Feliksa Żurawska

Three years ago this #LittleAuk was deployed with a #geolocator as a chick. Today (after 5 days of observation!) we retrieved it and are very curious to see where it spent its first year(s) of life! 🌍 #teamauk #seabirds #Hornsund #Arctic

The chicks 🐣 are starting to hatch in the colony, which means that we can start deploying GPS loggers to study the #foraging #ecology of the #LittleAuk. Thanks #EcotoneTelemetry for providing us with #loggers!🗺️ #seabirds #teamauk #fieldwork #animaltracking

As the chicks are about to fledge, we deployed light-level #geolocation devices on them. This will help us to understand where they spend their first years of life before returning back to the colony. #seatrack #migration #teamAuk #seabirds
