Absolutely. Same goes for political science and political theory. My take on this isn’t “anti-colonial” at all. It’s rather pragmatic: the exclusion of non-Western work from the canon (for arbitrary reasons) is detrimental to the discipline, plain and simple.

Remember the Doing Business Index? Welp, it's baaaaaaaaaack. Ok, sort of, not really. 4 years after Doing Business was suspended amidst scandal, today the World Bank launches its successor, the "Business Ready" (B-READY) report. Before diving into the new report, a recap. 🧵

Usually I don’t talk about stuff like this because frankly it happens way too often. But not today… As I pulled into the same faculty parking lot that I park in all the time Mississippi State, a white woman was coming out of my office building. Her car was parked next to the space I

Chile gathered 4 ex-presidents to write a book about their country's future. This would be impossible in Argentina, the US, Colombia, Brazil... almost everywhere. What's their secret? I wrote about it for AQ: americasquarterly.org/article/a-smal…

It’s very rare for a celebrity to speak at length about a complicated situation in another country and get it right. Javier Bardem does it here, and I hope you have a few minutes to listen to this. The Spanish is beautiful and the translation is good.

Disappointing that in Secretary Antony Blinken's essay in Foreign Affairs, "America’s Strategy of Renewal," #LatinAmerica does not appear in any meaningful way. One mention of Maduro. The US can't have a "strategy of renewal" without our shared neighborhood on board. foreignaffairs.com/united-states/…

New article! Lula’s stance on 🇻🇪 is a careful recalibration. Practical considerations are eclipsing ideological loyalties. It reflects political, social and economic changes within Brazil and across the region. Though gradual, this shift is unmistakable foreignpolicy.com/2024/10/08/lul…

In a departure from his historically unwavering support, Brazil’s president has refrained from accepting Nicolás Maduro’s victory in Venezuela. foreignpolicy.com/2024/10/08/lul…
