Working on JP Syd Mead interviews is always a bit of a challenge for me, because they're originally translated & edited from English to Japanese to begin with, so a lot gets lost in the transition, such as Mead's particular mannerisms, etc. (if you've listened to him speak).

When Syd Mead accepted the role of mecha designer for Turn A Gundam, he was sent a catalog of previous Gundam designs to study. He loved the Wing Zero EW and praised its "majestic" wings.

Syd Mead on Kunio Okawara's design of the original Gundam: "It's very mechanical, with blocky arms and exposed joints [...] But despite being so mechanical, I felt that it had a very strong soul. When designing my Gundam, I referenced his Gundam many times..."

Damn. Pretty consequential episode of GQux this week. I didn't expect the character scenario to go in this direction. Curious to see what happens next.
