Habitat loss is one of the biggest threats to amphibians so a great way folks can get involved is creating or protecting habitat either on your own property or by volunteering with or financially supporting local conservation groups or land trusts that do these activities.

FCSal actually began based around the idea of behavior change! We were originally a movement called Chopsticks for Salamanders before expanding into what we are now.

Just wanted to share a couple more ways you can take action for amphibians before we head out. Community science is a great way to be involved in science and conservation! There are lots of great projects on apps like iNaturalist Project Noah to report amphibians you find.

One last way you can help salamanders is just by sharing your love for them with others. A lot of folks know what frogs are, but many don't know exactly what a salamander is or why they are important. After #AmphibianWeek you all know and can help us spread the word.

We just passed our 6th annual #SalamanderSaturday on the first Saturday in May where we work with partners all over the world to celebrate these amazing creatures. This year, like last, we held a virtual celebration but hope to do a hybrid event next year. Hope you'll join us!

With that, it's just about time for us to sign out but let's keep our love for amphibians going way past #AmphibianWeek. Let us know what actions you plan to take to help amphibians this upcoming year so we can #KeepTheWorldSlimy!
