It was 34 years ago TODAY that Dawn Darnell Britton and I were married. What a journey! I love her more today than I did 34 years ago. She is my best friend, life mate and teammate. Thank you Dawn for loving me and our kids for over 3 decades. And now grandmother to Juniper Leigh

Insecure leaders hide behind words like control, panic, scarcity and fear. Great leaders stand behind words like surrender, peace, abundance and faith.

Great leaders descend into greatness! Augustine said, “Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility.” Leadership is serving, surrender and humility. It is laying down our lives for others.

Great leaders have one defining characteristic - GRIT! But the power of GRIT comes from the Spirit of God…not self. Oswald Chambers says it best, “No power on earth or in hell can conquer the Spirit of God living within the human spirit; it creates an inner invincibility.”

When accountability is resisted rather than pursued, great leaders become dangerous leaders.

Great leaders grow in the valley. The valley is green and fertile. We love the mountaintop but it is not where we experience growth. We make the greatest impact in the valley not the mountaintop. The valley is a gift from God so that we can mature and grow as a leader.
