On ships, the left used to be Larboard and the right used to be starboard. Understandable, it was hard to tell the difference, which probably caused a few issues. So, Larboard was named "Port", because it is where the port goes.

With the exception of China, nobody used to put north at the top of the map. Egypt put East on top, because that is the source of the sun, and Islamic nations oriented the top towards Mecca, usually south (Most of early Islamic civilization was north of Mecca)

Cato the Younger led the Roman conservative movement after Pompey's defeat. When Cato's army was defeated by Caesar, he committed suicide. Except, he missed anything important, and his doctor stitched him back up. When he woke, Cato ripped out his intestines.

The roman calendar was so broken, it left off approximately 60 days of each year. This allowed Caesar to win great victories, because everyone thought it was winter when it was actually fall, because he knew how broken it really was. That's why August and July are named like that

Roman ambassadors were known for being experts in gunboat diplomacy; they would walk into another nation's governing body and make demands, and if those demands were not met, they would swing the full force of the Roman army in. They were known as history's worst negotiators

There was a police procedure known as "Mr. Big" in which the police create a fake gang, convince someone to work for it, and then brag about all the bad gang stuff they've done until the suspect confesses something they did. Then, someone realized that it's actually very illegal.

Super Glue was originally developed to be used in gun sights for fighters. However, it was too sticky. Then, it was used in bandages in Vietnam to make the bleeding stop. Now, its used to stick your fingers together when you actually meant to fix a cup or something.

Clarity is important: During the Crimean War, British Light Cavalry were ordered to attack "the artillery". They attacked the wrong artillery because of the incredibly vague instructions, and this blunder is recorded as "the Charge of the Light Brigade" in British history

Project A-119 was a US Air Force plan to nuke the moon solely to flex on the Soviet Union that was abandoned. The Soviets had a separate plan individually. Both decided not to do it because nuking the moon would affect the moon's path, and we like being alive.

The largest stadium in world history is the Circus Maximus, built by the Romans. It had approximately 300,000 seats, meant to hold most of the population of the city of Rome. It isn't as pretty as it used to be. The next largest stadium is May Day stadium, with 150,000 seats.

The daily recommended maximum intake of caffeine by the FDA is 500 mg (5 cups of coffee). However, it is theoretically possible to drink 21,000 mg of caffeine a day, as 1g is the lethal dose (do NOT do that because that doesn't take into account biology and it'll probably kill u)
