I am horrified by how many academics are using AI to summarize research papers and books, not reading them otherwise. Intellectual integrity is meaningful, good-faith engagement with other people's ideas and the experience of learning their ideas on the terms set by the author

I witness extraordinary censorship every day, on and offline. But this example in England is powerful. Banksy created this powerful image outside the UK Court of Justice, and it has been covered up and guarded with TWO police guards. Mustn't have people speaking too freely.

We have Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Flaubert, Cervantes, Montaigne, Shakespeare, Melville, Dante, Whitman, Shelley, T. Mann, Dickinson, Faulkner, Dickens, George Eliot. We have the heights, you just have to be willing to climb them.

In light of recent world events, we feel it's important to reiterate that censorship - whether by force, fiat, or otherwise - has no place in modern, free society. And yes, this extends to both sides of the political aisle.
