I often get photo reminders from Google, and this one took me back 9 years ago to the CRISPR CSHL conference where I presented our findings on frequent large deletions induced by single Cas9 cleavage. It was hands down the most amazing conference I've ever attended.

Excited to share that our study on generating a humanized DMD mouse model using CRISPR has been published! This model will be instrumental in advancing research for potential therapies. Huge thanks to the team for their dedication! #CRISPR #DMD #Research bmcbiol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Just received an email from a student interested in doing an internship in our lab. Along with CRISPR gene editing, she’s into COOKING, BAKING, and COFFEE. Haven't met her yet, but I like her already.

"In 2020, Australian institutions paid over $321 million to publishers". That could have funded more than 2,500 postdoc salaries per year. F*ck the publishing system.

Last #apaperaday from Montreal. Traveling to Toronto today for some lectures and festivities next week. Today's pick is from BMC Biology by Chey Fatwa Adikusuma PhD et al on removing a copy of the hDMD gene of the mouse model we generated. DOI: 10.1186/s12915-024-02008-7

Our paper on continuous mutagenesis in living cells using HACE is now out in Science Magazine! We now demonstrate that HACE continuously generates mutations over a 10-day period and enables targeting using dCas9 without introducing DNA nicks. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

The greatest challenge for #mRNA-LNP therapies is targeting non-liver tissues. To overcome this, we used customisable bispecific antibodies to tether mRNA-LNPs to cell-surface proteins, achieving efficient and selective mRNA delivery in vivo. BASE mRNA Facility biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Nice study on large deletions induced by Cas9, BE or PE. It surprised me that there is PCR polymerase that doesn't produce amplification bias for different amplicon sizes. nature.com/articles/s4155…
