Congratulations, Argentina! The 2022 World Cup has come to an end, but let’s keep the excitement going – the World Cup is coming to Canada, the United States, and Mexico in 2026. We’re looking forward to hosting the tournament with our North American friends! #United2026 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇲🇽

I’ve just returned home from attending a fatal fire that claimed 4 people, 2 were children. Do you have working smoke alarms? You must, it’s the law in Ontario. Have you checked them? Early detection maybe the only thing that saves you and your family in a fire.

The reports and images from Turkey and Syria are devastating. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these major earthquakes, and our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones. Canada stands ready to provide assistance.

When are people going to get angry? Because I’m angry. I’m angry as Mayor & angry as a dad of two kids that feel like they, & their friends, have no hope of a life of affordable living & housing. Their generation is looking for hope. We need to give it to them quickly.

NEW: housing shortages, affordability crises and NIMBYism are growing problems in many countries, but what’s especially striking is how much worse they all are in Anglophone countries 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇦🇺🇳🇿🇨🇦🇮🇪 What’s going on? My column -> enterprise-sharing.ft.com/redeem/1a2c0ab…

An NDP speech on housing went viral yesterday and… it’s almost entirely misinformation. “Prices have always gone up” is such a fundamental misunderstanding of the absolute crisis we are in. And blaming Poilievre for Jean Chretien’s cuts to social housing is… a choice.

A worrying trend of leading AI experts warning about the dangers of the technology they created. Unfortunately the warnings seem to be falling on deaf ears.

Happy Canada Day weekend... I rode 20km today under the rain (dropped off donation items at a thrift store, swam, and grocery shopped) as I get ready for August. Please make a donation and support my 300km challenge to end childhood cancer. greatcyclechallenge.ca/Riders/FatihYe…

A short-sighted, divisive policy that will hurt Quebec/Montreal, drive resentment and regional divisions across Canada and deeply hurt world class institutions like McGill and Concordia. Out of province students coming to Quebec are an asset to the province. Terrible decision.

The solution, both for the US at the top of this thread and Canada now, is to reduce the education/skill requirements for regular immigrant paths, so as to match actual economic needs. This also reduces load on the asylum system, since regular paths can be used.
