saw some incredible northern lights during our flight tonight King's Geography Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires 🔥 Kings-NCEO: Earth Obs & Wildfire Research Group NERC NCEO

we have also been flying over some gas flares at the tar sands near fort mcmurray. the scale of this industry is insane! we are investigating how the angle you view the target affects the measurements. this is part of the new ESA Earth Observation FRM4Fire project.

The response to wildfires in northern Portugal 🇵🇹 continues, with several European teams 🇫🇷🇮🇹🇪🇸 joining forces with local firefighters. A total of 8 planes sent via the EU are operating on the ground. Here are a few shots from Sécurité Civile. Merci ! #EUCivilProtection

short Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires 🔥 blog on our recent paper investigating how the potassium emission line produced by flaming fires could help to improve smoke emission estimates: centreforwildfires.org/news/how-potas…

really enjoyed the esa living planets symposium #LPS25 (EO glastonbury??) - i went to many great talks, saw lots of posters, and i presented a couple describing some of our work on #fire #emissions from our Kings-NCEO: Earth Obs & Wildfire Research Group #airborne campaigns Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires 🔥 NERC NCEO
