Made the mistake of assuming our last outlying field of winter wheat would be the same as the others. Now combining 7 acres at a rather damp 21% and trying to find a shed corner to put it in to dry it.

600-700kgs of Extase C2 winter wheat seed available if anyone needs a bit to finish off a field. Redigo Deter treated. Long Sutton area for collection.

I’m committed to growing potatoes for 2022/23 season but won’t plant another crop if we can’t make significant improvements to our returns. Production costs have exceeded sale price for last 3 years and input costs are now out of control. Morrisons Tesco Sainsbury's Asda

Right! Enough is enough! Loss leading supermarkets you are the pits! Not a jot in movement in retail price and yet producer (and packer) costs are hitting the roof. Feed costs have gone ballistic! Defra UK you need to do something

#Farm24 Winter wheat harvest now done, here’s almost the same shot of the combine from last night with and without a lovely sunset!

Yet again our expensive Sencrop - Connected weather for farmers 🌡️❄️🌦️ weather station is not accurately recording the rainfall (and yes I have recently cleaned it). 17mm vs 25mm. 47% more rain caught by the traditional rain gauge!

So todays rainfall has brought more differences with the “analogue” rain gauge and the Sencrop - Connected weather for farmers 🌡️❄️🌦️ . 30mm vs 21mm: it’s the same story as usual: Sencrop consistently under recording rainfall. The problem is that farming needs accuracy and we’re not getting it

A beautiful February evening sunset, only slightly ruined by the fact that a good lot of my wheat fields look like this. We have had nearly 500mm of rain since the middle of October and the wettest autumn/winter for about 200 years!

Double standards?… Norfolk County Council claims MV Ruby left port to discharge fertiliser at sea. A government spokesperson added: "Ammonium nitrate is not a persistent chemical, and with sufficient dilution, it will dissipate without leaving a trace.” bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

This is one of the best summaries of how the government are hammering UK farmers on so many different levels. Please take a few minutes of your time to watch and listen. Support our farmers. Our food security depends on them. Save British Farming 🇬🇧
