Gen Faiz did what he did because of no legislation defining mandate of the agency he headed. Bring it under the law, define its scope & hold functionaries accountable for transgressions. That's the way forward. Investigate those who resisted attempts at legislation in past.

Hard to believe rumours doing rounds about strategic manipulation of judiciary through legislation. Think it's political propaganda. One likes to believe that there are enough sensible elements in the state to pull back the few reckless ones, if any, from the brink of disaster.

This is most condemnable. Everyone, the nationalists also must condemn such atrocities in unequivocal terms. Terrorism, target killings must be denounced regardless of who the perpetrators & who the victims are.

Wondering if people anywhere see their defence chiefs as larger than life, extraordinary. In last decade we hailed a chief as "thinking general," made a hero of another for "rejecting" extension that wasn't even offered & held in awe another one for his now forgotten "doctrine"
