Energija isn't out of the game just yet! 2007-born defenseman Otas Urvelis with a perfect snipe right in the top corner, and Liepaja's lead is cut down to just one - 1-2!

27 minutes into the game, and Liepaja is running away with the game! 6-1, and Energija has seemingly run out of energy. It's also the first hat-trick of the new Liepaja team, as Karlis Ozolins has scored his third goal!

Rough, rough day for Energija, as Liepaja picked up a 9-1 victory in their home opener! Former HK Mogo forward Karlis Ozolins picked up the first hat-trick of the new season, as well as an assist, while former hkzemgale leading player Kevins Stradnieks picked up 1G+3A.

Sunday also featured the start of the Latvian 1. Liga, also known as the 2nd tier of Latvian hockey! The first game of the new season featured Dinaburga defeating Prizma 14:1 Liepajas LSS lost 1:5 against the HS Falcons and Jelgavas LSS lost 1:8 to Broceni!

Coach Ankipans certainly will not be happy about this game, but Mogo manages to sneak away with a victory in overtime versus Prizma, 4-3! Kristaps Jakobsons the hero for Mogo today, but Prizma was keeping it close all throughout. Certainly not a bad game for the underdogs!

For the first time in the Optibet Hokeja Liga history, a *Portuguese* 🇵🇹 player makes his debut! Prizma has signed 18-year-old forward David Ricardo Valerio Fino, who's spent his career in the Swiss junior leagues. The forward is playing on Prizma's 2nd line today!
