Good and then bad news. Bournemouth peregrines laid a third egg last night at 940pm. Today one of the eggs was missing! Recordings show one egg got stuck to the females belly feathers and she took it out of the nest during a change over at 641am. Real shame but that's nature.

The penultimate brood of kestrels for this year's ringing/monitoring. What an odd year it has been with about 5 weeks between brood stages....will there ever be a close to 'normal' year again?

Sad news, I have just been informed that a second peregrine has died in Poole by hitting a glass window. Without having seen the bird I am guessing it is the second juvenile.

DRSG are pleased to have helped Stonewater Housing manage potential breeding peregrines at one of their sites. We have installed a bespoke nest box on Harbour Sails high-rise in Poole, Dorset (above ASDA). If peregrines use this box it will be safe and secure.

Often people ask what the point of colour ringing birds is. Not all birds are easy to re-catch in order to read their rings, it also reduce disturbance & field time This Peregrine Falcon was ringed as a chick in 2021 & is now a breeding bird at that site. Fantastic birds and data
