Dissipative Kerr solitons are optical waves that preserve their shape while travelling in dispersive, lossy, nonlinear media. By engineering a planarized ring QCL,Paolo Micheletti et al have demonstrated THz solitons in our latest work on ScienceAdvances. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

I disagree with this suggestion. Research is based on failure. Those who finance research have to take this risk without the prospect of a direct return on investment. Such approaches endanger basic research not just at ETH Zürich but worldwide. nature.com/articles/d4158…
