Loving "Daisy Jones and the Six," esp since I'm working on a short in faux-doc intercut style.

Like writing w/music. Dropped earbud overboard (I live on a boat). Sank? Nope, bobbing in water. Reach, fish it out w/baseball cap, dry it off — back to writing, yay!

Watched “Judy Blume Forever” w/my MG novelist wife, and wow — the gamut of emotions, admiration for her fearlessness, humanity and humility — it’s all there. Even better after meeting her on our pilgrimage to her bookstore in Key West in ‘19. Authentic!

I did it — shot my first short film. Last night. All night. What a terrific cast & crew! Now, zzzzzzz …

Now editing my first short film (after directing the shoot last week) — wow, talk about both authority and responsibility. Get those cuts right, down to the frame. Alternately tedious and satisfying. Time consuming. Best vocal delivery, facial expressions …

As of Friday, “Party For One” has hit the Rough Cut square in the “Let’s make a movie” boardgame. Now for sound, vfx, music, color grading … who said, Making Movies Is Hard!!! !

As of today, our short film is at the “dialogue audio complete” stage. What an education, editing it myself. Many thanks to our sound recordist Josh Rickert, including a referral to a great book on dialogue editing. VFX in progress. Audio bg and music next!
