Al-Ḥāfiẓ Abū ʿArabī Nuʿaym b. Ḥammād al-Marwazī [d. 228 AH; teacher of al-Bukhārī] narrates with Ṣaḥīḥ chain from Rasūlullāh [ﷺ]: “After me, there’ll be Caliphs as numerous as the leaders of (nation of) Mūsā [a] (i.e., 12).” FIRST IS MAWLĀ ʿALĪ ؑ & LAST IS AL-MAḤDĪ [ع].
