Ghana has passed an anti-LGBT bill on the back of the claim that homosexuality is a "foreign concept". In reality, homophobia was one of the many ills brought to Africa by western colonizers. 🧵

African leaders today often use homophobia to appear like they're standing up to the West, when in fact they're reinforcing the legacy of Western colonialism. All while continuing to hand over natural resources and real sovereignty over to foreign interests.
