Who was the bright spark who decided that we’re better off fining the the tiny proportion people the cops happen to catch for being in ‘possession’ of drugs instead of just taxing EVERYONE at the point of sale?

Making drugs ‘prescription only’ and therefore ‘illegal to possess’ is the root cause of many of the ‘drug problems’ we face today. It will not end nicotine addiction. It does, however, keep the wheels of organised crime well greased & results in an enourmous black market.

We want people to take as many precautions as possible if they decide to use drugs in the same way we want them to take as many precautions as possible if they decide to use a skateboard. Making drugs ‘illegal to possess’ without a doctor’s script is a huge impediment to this.

If adults have the liberty to go into a corner store for smokes & come out with them they should have the liberty to go into a corner store for smokes & walk out with snus. It would amount to a life-saving decision. Why has Mark Butler MP jammed the door to the fire escape?

Nancy Mace People are going to be buying Fentanyl, because it's illegal for them to buy the drugs they really want from the store. ~300 die every single day from these drug prohibitions.

This is the crux of the issue. When America forced people to get permission from a doctor to buy alcohol from a pharmacy disaster ensued.

Compared to continued cigarette smoking, initiating dual use (of cigarettes and e-cigarettes) leads to reduced smoking and increased cigarette-free days, find Matthew Carpenter et al. academic.oup.com/ntr/advance-ar…

Consider a car that’s parked illegally. You wouldn’t call the car itself "illegal," right? That is why referring to some drugs as "illegal" is absurd. Drugs, like cars, aren’t inherently illegal; it’s the way they’re used, possessed, or distributed that may violate the law.

Pretend your young adolescent child finds and smokes a cigarette. When you discover they have done this you warn them “don’t do that, it’s addictive”. How would they understand what ‘addictive’ means in this instance? Assume they were unfamiliar with the word.

To tackle the problems of by organised crime gangs and the costly, violent drug markets that lead to significant death and disease, we should revise our intricate web of laws to resemble the straightforward regulations we apply to the manufacture, sale & use of wheels.
