Pretty good result. Turns out changing policies can change behaviour. But it also helps that London has a well developed public transport system.

I’ve supported hybrids as a “better than nothing” technology and a pathway to wean people off ICE. The perfect is the enemy of the good and so on. But they truly are pathetic as cars. Still slow, still noisy, still beholden to the fossil fuel sellers.

If you still want to do ICE, then own it. Get something with at least six cylinders and a manual gearbox that runs on petrol and do it properly. It’s laughable to see people who own diesels defend ICE. The tractor engine isn’t worth basing your personality around.

Many of the replies to this post perfectly illustrate the problem car magazines now have. Their readers are often rusted-on ICE types, but the new car market is moving on from that rapidly. And some of their readers like EVs. How do they balance that?

We don’t hear about the ozone layer anymore because….wait for it…we got together and got rid of the thing (CFCs) that was causing the problem. We don’t hear about it because we solved it.

This car has been plugged in to a charger I’m near today since I got here at 8. It’s now nearly 1. Impolite, or maybe the car is broken/the plug can’t be removed?

“Symbol of protest” 🤣 This is perfect for how these people think. Inflict some self-harm Declare yourself a victim Complain loudly about it

This is disturbing but not surprising. However, I’d ask whether this is a conspiracy mindset or simply a starting point of “I don’t like change” and leaning into information/positions which support their predetermined view?
