A candidate for President of the largest U.S. Protestant denomination says he's "not necessarily comfortable with all the wording" of the only universal creed in Church history. This should concern Christians more than squabbles over identity labels/terms or 'secondary issues.'

Spot on. 3mo into our church plant, a small group of very enthusiastic folks told me "We've hit 50+ churches from San Diego to Santa Barbara. We finally found a faithful church here." 6mo later (almost exactly) they emailed us a dozen reasons why we're heretics. No conversation

Wrote this song with Matt Redman and Leonard R. Jarman Jr. Matt's beautiful version released yesterday. May this song encourage us to ignore any Jesus of our own imagining and see the Real Jesus whose authority and goodness are better than we could possibly dream. youtube.com/watch?v=rMO_T5…

100% agree, Mike. The "relationship not religion" thing is one of the most unfortunate dichotomies I've ever heard of. Jesus came for both. And this matters more than many people realize.

The only reason Jesus ever points out who our human enemies are is so that we know who to love and bless. Seems like an important reminder for today.

In 1988, Billy Graham prayed at both the RNC and DNC. At both, he prayed for holiness, social justice, and gospel renewal to come. He refused to parrot either party's slogan like a partisan puppet. Can you imagine this happening in 2024? It’s hard to. billygraham.org/story/billy-gr…

(Still) the best thing on the internet? BibleProject. Hands down. And not just the animated videos. The Classroom. The podcast. It's just stunning how Tim and Jon have made biblical literacy so accessible and enjoyable for so many millions of people. I celebrate it big time!

Speaking of the Bible... I had the privilege of contributing the notes on 'Worship and Art' in the Upside Down Kingdom Bible, releasing Sept 10th. Honestly, I've never really been into Study Bibles. But browsing through my pre-release copy kind of... surpised me. The notes and

Yes, still true. Also, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." — 2 Corinthians 10:4 For Christians, the New Testament > the second amendment. So yes, the scriptures are still true.

In our politically divided culture (and sadly, politically divided American church), conversations like these are SO needed. I'm very much looking forward to this. eventbrite.com/e/civic-reviva…

I love the Ephesus riot story so much. I get to preach on it this Sunday. “The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there.” —Acts 19v32 ...sounds like Americans on X in an election year.
