EURATEX welcomes the publication of the report on the state of the #InternalMarket developed by Mr Enrico Letta.

The report recognises that fragmentation, gold plating and ring fencing of regulations create an obstacle to #productivity and hence #competitiveness .

EURATEX has 15 requests on industrial policy, #trade , sustainability and #consumers demand.

One of these requests is to avoid #greenwashing together with rebalancing #supply and demand for #sustainable #textiles products.

Today EURATEX Director General, Dirk Vantyghem, participated in the #EU #IndustrialForum . There were many good ideas, but also clear calls to make effective changes to the EU's strategy. Above all, great hopes in a European Competitiveness Deal, to be debated in next #EU Summit .

Euratex is one of 1000 signatories of the #antwerpdeclaration for the next EU term. EU elections give a unique opportunity to set a new policy framework where #Entrepreneurship is rewarded, where #Sustainability and competitiveness go hand in hand.

The #textiles and #clothing sector showed stable #economic performances during the fourth quarter of 2023, as a result of slowly improving market conditions.

Observatorio Textil y Moda organised an interesting event yesterday in Madrid. EURATEX Mauro Scalia was glad to contribute to the discussion and to learn that this week, Spanish authorities will allocate 97.5 millions to support the #sustainable transition.

The EU has foreseen a co-funded and co-programmed #partnership , “Textiles of the Future”.

Last week, EURATEX was present at the #PactforSkills forum.

It was interesting to hear from European Commissioners, officials and various Pact for Skills members about the challenges and current practices to upskill and #reskill workers of Europe.

Yesterday, under #EU2024BE , EURATEX, Fedustria, Centexbel and Creamoda organised an event on EU strategy for #sustainable and #circular #textiles . Around 1500 people gathered to discuss key components to develop a strategy which will support the #competitiveness of our sector.

Yesterday Mauro Scalia participated in #EcoDesign and Digital Product Passport Summit in Limena, Italy.

It was a successful event with MEP Alessandra Moretti, Fashionart SpA, Sistema Moda Italia and Yamamay. Participants presented examples of how #ESPR may work in the future.

EU #environment ministers debated the #WFD . EURATEX is for:
🏭️ level playing field - include micro enterprises
⏳️ feasible timeline to develop national EPR schemes
🔗 effective enforcement, also on online platforms
👥 balanced roles and responsibilities for EPR stakeholders
