Keto diet (2014), intermittent carnivore diet. Radically changed my life; went to medical school to see why there is so much disinformation. Not medical advice.

People think that you need to exercise to lose weight. I’m not saying it doesn’t help, but losing weight means having more energy and a desire to exercise.

I joke that I don’t work for the patient, I work for the insurance company. It’s partially true, but I also work for the pharmaceutical companies. When I tell patients this, they know I’m joking and laugh, but I think everyone’s tired of this.

Good for glycemic control, HDL, triglycerides, weight control, and blood pressure. Low carb literally reverses the symptoms of metabolic syndrome. So why take a pill for every ill?

The battle is this. Evidence based medicine is a club the pharmaceutical companies wield when they pay for well designed (in their favor) clinical trials. They only use EBM when the chips stack in their favor, not in situations like this. We need to hold them accountable.

Doctors mock patients that are involved in their own care. Even well informed and intentioned patients. I go out of my way to thank those types of people because, they’re the minority for sure.

This is why bypassing insurance with cash pay systems is becoming more appealing for both physicians and patients. I often feel like I work for 10 other people (and not the patient).

Cutting NIH funding would theoretically cost the US $8 trillion in costs related to worse health outcomes. Rather than living a healthy lifestyle, we need to fund drug research because we have no agency to make good choices. We need pills. Do you agree? jamanetwork.com/journals/jama-…

💯 You have to consent to medical intervention. It is highly unethical and needs to be removed from drinking water for that reason alone. Glad to live in Florida.

🎥 Raw throwback. Unedited. Me ranting to my high school boys about metabolic syndrome, insulin, and the root causes of this chronic disease epidemic. Is it really that complicated? Or have we refused to see what’s been in front of us for over a century? Metabolic syndrome rates

Most sugar-free sweets are not really sugar-free! Sorbitol & maltitol raise blood sugar. Sorbitol mostly converts to fructose, maltitol to glucose. Cause bloating, diarrhea too. And they are less sweet than sugar, so it takes more to get the same sweetness.

You shouldn’t fear salt. It isn’t driving the high blood pressure in “essential” hypertension. Insulin is. Control the insulin and you have absolutely no reason to avoid salt. So make sure you have a salt shaker on the table, especially in hot weather!
