In 1853 Queen Victoria inhaled the ‘blessed’ chloroform for 53 minutes, provided by pioneer anaesthetist John Snow for the delivery of her 8th child. His choice to give the Queen chloroform was controversial, because by now doctors realised it was dangerous. Episode 5 out now!
