This Northern Hawk-Owl was another highlight of day two in Estonia. They have been really scarce this winter, this the only long-staying bird in the country. Capped a great day on Saaremaa Island with EstonianNatureTours where we also saw flocks of displaying Smew & Black-B Dipper

Estonia Day 3 and the undoubted highlight was the fantastic views we had of a pair of Pygmy Owls in forest near Tuhu. Nutcracker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, lekking Black Grouse, Parrot Crossbill and some fantastic mixed flocks of White-fronts and Tundra Beans also EstonianNatureTours

Estonia day 4 and this Nutcracker posing at first light was a good start to the day. Middle Spotted Woodpecker, europaea race Nuthatch and many Great Grey Shrikes and White-tailed Eagles were other highlights. Tundra Beans, White-fronts & Bewick’s Swans also now passing northward
