This second season of Hell's Paradise has been surprisingly strong. The new characters are fun and the most notable among them is super interesting in his fanaticism. (And charismatic - certified aura farmer right there.)

Impressive direction in Oshi no Ko S3 #04. Kazue Komatsu's first full TV episode as director & storyboarder, but you wouldn't guess it from the confident delivery and how much evocative imagery it adds. Great character art under Saori Yagi & Kimiaki Mizuno's supervision as well!

This week on Oshi no Ko: more great television and more people making rational decisions. ... Actually, scratch that. Oshi no Ko was *outstanding* television this week.

The way Ikoku Nikki depicts neurodivergence is unlike anything I've ever seen in anime. It's been an Anime of the Year contender since episode 1 but at this point I'm starting to wonder if it'll even be possible for anything to surpass it. It's just hitting so close to home.

It's interesting how Ikoku Nikki balances between its two leads. We had a few more strongly Makio-centric episodes, but now the focus is on Asa and her unbearable, nameless, adolescent pain. And also the idea of conveying things in writing, which ties the two sides together.

More Yuru Camp is pleasant news in any case, but what really excites me is how good it looks. The designs seem to strike a good balance between S1-2 and S3, and the background art looks the best it has in the entire series. Next year, huh...

A significant figure who created something truly special in the Japanese animation industry is gone. At least he got to see KyoAni get back on its feet after the horrible arson attack, but it's still sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
