5 years ago today, Eritrea played its last international football match, against Namibia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier. It has officially been five whole years since Eritrea played international football.

Eritrean football is BACK! Eritrea will play a pair of African Nations Championship qualifiers against Ethiopia on October 31 and November 3! All participating nations in the CHAN must only use local players, so there will be no diaspora players in the squad.

To be clear, the Niger team we faced on both occasions was the A' team, consisting only of domestic players, and not their main team.
