When it comes to classroom decorations, how do you strike the right balance between engaging and chaotic? โš–๏ธ Hereโ€™s what the research says: edut.to/3W0xYqm

The purpose of debriefing bad decisions is not to blame and shame. It's to grow and change. Failure is an invitation to reflection. The most important question is not who's at faultโ€”it's how to improve. Yesterday's mistakes are lessons to learn today and apply tomorrow.

Too many decorations, and students can get overwhelmed with information. Too few, and your classroom can feel cold. Here's the research-backed way to get it just right. ๐Ÿคฉ edut.to/3W0xYqm

YOU will be remembered. I promise. The new year is getting closer. PLEASE remember that the most important thing to get ready in your classroom is YOU. Cat posters donโ€™t make kids hang in thereโ€ฆYOU do. #LeadFromWhereYouAre

I struggle this time of year. I read the comments. I know people hate ice breakers and games and chart paper. And, also, I know there are certain things that need to be shared and said and done. Trying to find the balance of must doโ€™s and may doโ€™sโ€ฆthis is what I lose sleep over.

I remember my 17 year old telling me about how much he appreciated a teacher who always allowed students to make HW and test corrections.ย  He told me: โ€œShe said it doesnโ€™t matter when we get itโ€ฆ as long as we get it.โ€ย  (This was for an AP class.)

Iโ€™ve had pizza from New Haven, New York, Chicago and Rome and still havenโ€™t found anything better than Pizza King in north central Indiana.

You donโ€™t need to react to everything around you. You donโ€™t need to immediately respond to text message and phone calls. You can (and should) spend time doing nothing at all. Your health will improve when you reject urgency culture.

My son once told me about a teacher who โ€œgives the whole class a positive vibeโ€ ... every day. What a cool compliment that is! What if that were true of every teacher? And to my educator peeps out there... the kids are always noticing our vibe. We need to keep it positive.

Teaching is the toughest jobโ€” Not just because of the hours, the paperwork, or the pay. But also because you're competing with culture, social media, peer pressure, and traumaโ€” and still expected to produce excellence. Youโ€™re asked to meet every need, fix every gap, calm every
