A great paper showing not only the link between parent language use and child vocabulary knowledge, but also investigating this in a sound symbolically rich language (i.e., Turkish)! I find it always amusing to learn more about my native-language🤓

I could not be at Burcu's talk (I was presenting at a symposium), but I am sure she did a wonderful job! She presented her work on speech disfluency and gestures! Burcu and thanks Jonas for tweeting!

Woof woof, boing, choo choo, beep and many other sound symbols parents say to their babies might contribute to their vocabulary development! Check out our paper with Şeref Can Esmer and Tilbe Göksun! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Over-reliance on English hinders cognitive science: it has led to premature claims of universality (due to over-sampling of English speakers) and limited the cognitive constructs being examined (due to the use of English as a meta-language). doi.org/10.1016/j.tics…

I should start checking Twitter more frequently! I am just seeing that my dear friend Sally Hang, M.A. tweeted about both of us giving presentations on structural equation modeling! Her presentation rocked the class! Shout out to our prof Mijke Rhemtulla, she taught us A LOT!
