Notes on Charlie Munger’s commencement address: 1. What do you want to avoid in life: Sloth and unreliability. 2. Envy, resentment, revenge, and self-pity are disastrous modes of thoughts. It is a ridiculous way to behave. When you avoid it you get a great advantage over

You can't make this up: Last month, the May and June jobs reports were revised lower by -258,000 jobs. Today, the BLS revised the June jobs report lower AGAIN by another -27,000 jobs. That's a total of -285,000 jobs in 2 months. What is happening here?

After our talk, a nice lady comes up to me: “Years ago, I was an admin assistant with no marketable skills. I listened to you guys and now I’m running a marketing department.” Learn, do. Learn, do. That’s the formula. 🤓 Ps this is the best part about speaking at these

For whatever reason, traction seems to take 3 years. Building an audience. Building a business. Most people just don’t want to wade through the mud of suckage. It usually gets a lot better after year 3. So keep going.

I used to think achieving an outsized outcome was about having multiple businesses in a condensed timeframe. What I’ve learned is it’s the opposite: achieving an outsized outcome is about having one business over decades.

Dear founders, Do blind references. If you get a bad one, dig into “why.” If it is b/c they pushed hard and it rubbed a few folks the wrong way, that might be a green flag. If all the references glow, the candidate might be too much of a people pleaser, a red flag. Love, Bh.

Shiny object syndrome allows you to work on as many thing as you want, but the tradeoff is you stay small. Focus forces you to work on one thing, but the tradeoff is you grow big. Choose your tradeoff.

Does anyone know of any amazing SEO leaders / talent who are also strong with Reddit and YouTube strategy?  A friend of mine is hiring for this role and asking me for reccos. I don’t know of anyone who fits the bill.

Most leaders start out wanting to be liked by people - after all, who doesn’t want to be liked? But people will test to see what they can get. They will push boundaries. If leaders don’t set their boundaries, they will become pushovers. I remember when I told everyone that

AI recruiters just outperformed humans in a 70k applicant study: +12% more offers, +18% more starts, +17% higher retention, less bias, equal satisfaction. I wonder where this goes now? 🤔

Things are bad for many agencies right now. New logo acquisition down. Churn is up. What works: - Meeting prospects in person. Wining and dining them. - Online events eg webinars or partner webinars. - Short form content (depending on the industry you’re in). - Long form video
