I am incredibly proud of @IsslerOrna and our collaborators for this new work using integrated human-mouse investigations to understand the molecular mechanisms of sex differences in depression. This exciting discovery has inspired my very first "tweetprint". Here we go…🤞🏼

In this study, we show marked baseline sex differences in expression levels of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the depressed human brain and establish one such lncRNA, which we term FEDORA, in contributing to depression in females only. Friedman Brain Institute science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Excited to share some of my postdoc work with Eric J. Nestler, MD, PhD where we combine heroin self-administration in mice with RNAseq to generate a comprehensive, reward circuit-wide dataset of transcriptional regulation relevant to multiple aspects of OUD. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I am thrilled to share our latest paper out in Science Advances! Together w/ Ashley Cunningham, MSc 🧠, Eric J. Nestler, MD, PhD, et al. we found that #CocaineUseDisorder suppresses neuroinflammation & disrupts gene networks involved in neurotransmission. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

We show that the molecular abnormalities in humans with CUD also occur in mice that self-administered cocaine. This supports the value of mouse models to better understand and treat CUD.
