Here's a look at which Iowa Republican bills survived the first legislative deadline and which ones luckily failed to advance. Here is also the good Iowa House Democrats bills that advanced, as well as good bills for Iowa that Republicans refused to advance.

We’ve fought for a five year tuition freeze at Iowa’s state universities, and yesterday I voted to make it happen. Iowa families deserve certainty when planning for college.

Iowa House Republicans took away more local control from counties and cities today under the guise of public safety. I work full-time as a police officer and I can tell you from my experience it is not for public safety.

In a weather emergency, restoring power quickly can be the difference between safety and serious risk for Iowa families. Yesterday, I voted to make sure that Iowans can keep the lights on.

Young children learn best through hands-on experiences. That’s why I championed legislation requiring play-based learning for preschool and kindergarten students.

Iowa’s correctional officers deserve our support and the ability to bargain for safe working conditions in overcrowded prisons. That’s why Iowa House Democrats supported legislation to ensure they have those protections.

Last Friday, Rep. Wilson and I had the opportunity to tour the Bethany Lutheran Food Pantry with Ronda Anderson. This food pantry is making great strides in our community, and I look forward to watching as it continues to make a positive impact for their many neighbors.
