Thank you Anthony for joining us for the session! More news to come regarding the release of new LGBTQ American history related lessons from our partnership with the NEA. Stay tuned!

Love these! When I interviewed Kay Lahusen a few years back and asked her to fill in the blank, "I made gay history when..." she had so many answers that we almost ran out of tape! Exaggerating, of course, but Kay and her life partner Barbara Gittings changed the world for us!

The best part of making Slow Burn was finding moments of hilarity and joy in my interviews. Queer history is full of ridiculous (and sexy!!) nuggets like this one ✨

My favorites! I’m often asked who among the 100+ people I interviewed for the MGH book in the 1980s were my faves. There were many, but my favorite faves were Barbara and Kay, the happy warriors of our movement who were out there fighting for us years before Stonewall and after.

Our Making Gay History founding producer Sara Burningham found the one and only recorded interview (as far as we know) with Ernestine. From 1965. Barbara Gittings and Kay Lahusen conducted the interview. Extraordinary to hear! So go ahead and listen!

If you listen to one podcast about LGBTQ history (in addition to Making Gay History), this is it! Riveting! Illuminating! Transporting! The best kind of time travel through brilliant storytelling and archival recordings. Listen!

Our backlash to the anti-LGBTQ backlash continues to unfold! What is it that President Obama says? VOTE! We've got the power when we use it to vote out the bigots or to keep them out in the first place. lgbtqnation.com/2024/07/school…

I love the past because we know how it turned out. Take a break from today's insanity & join Christina Cauterucci on stage at the Tribeca Festival with ME in the hot seat. Also deray and other guests, to cap the extraordinary Slow Burn Briggs Initiative series. youtube.com/watch?v=2plpae…

Such a fun conversation with the incredibly talented and creative Christina Cauterucci who produced one of the best LGBTQ history podcast series I've ever heard. Listen to ep. 1 and you'll be hooked. But don't forget the "live on stage" final episode!

"I was hooked and it's so beautifully produced. It's extraordinary. I've not heard anything like it before." Eric Marcus, host of Making Gay History, on Slow Burn: Gays Against Briggs on our bonus episode from Tribeca Audio. Binge the whole season now! slate.com/slowburn

If not for Evan Wolfson we wouldn't be marking today's NY marriage equality anniversary. Evan is a hero of the LGBTQ+ movement with a great story to tell. That's why Making Gay History is sharing an episode of Jordan Gonsalves' podcast featuring Evan. Listen! youtube.com/watch?v=FtLBVp…

Loved chatting with Robert O’Shaughnessy for his "You May Find Yourself" podcast (YMFY is a podcast about work, career, and finding a path—mine was very winding and occasionally tortured!). Hope you enjoy what you hear! 👇

Phil Donahue RIP. One of the greats. In 1987, shortly after I told my grandmother I was gay (she was 84), she took me on a walk and explained that she watched the "Phil Donahue Show" so she knew that I couldn't change. It gave her comfort to know that Donahue was supportive.

Two of my books are on the list of books being "audited" for possible exclusion from the Leighton Area High School Library, including Is It A Choice? and What If Someone I Know Is Gay? Here's the full list: tnonline.com/20240828/books… tnonline.com/20240827/lasd-…

Hope to see you there! We’ve been working on this project for more than a year, scouring archives to find rare first-person testimony.
