Official CBO analysis confirms the obvious: House Republican tax and budget bill isn't shared sacrifice. It makes poor people poorer and rich people richer. It does this by cutting health care & nutrition to help finance tax cuts skewed to the wealthy.

Heated pools to purportedly help children stay out of trouble (??) but not money for their families living in abject poverty who'll face more sanctions and lower TANF benefits.

So very misleading to have released a statement a few weeks back that she's maintaining full support for this program knowing that she eliminates it in the outyears!

I’m deeply concerned about how this budget is balanced: by making cuts to vital programs that support and protect families and children. ❌ Cuts and eligibility changes to Medicaid, TANF & Health Care Alliance ❌ Repeal of Child Tax Credit ❌ Reduced paid family leave investment

More ways this budget hurts District residents: ❌ Effectively eliminates Pay Equity Fund in 2026 ❌ Repeals I-82 wage increases for tipped workers ❌ Makes it easier to evict struggling renters

.Mayor Muriel Bowser's budget includes exactly zero dollars to help single homeless adults move off the streets and into housing. In DC, single adults are those most likely to die w/o a home & most likely to live in tents. Again, Bowser balanced DC's budget on the backs of the poor.
