Dangerous precedent to grant Presidential Pardons in the biggest corruption case in recent history. This executive decision will have long term implications on the rule of law & justice in the Maldives, and will significantly jeopardise public confidence in the governance system.

Access to Justice starts with knowledge: 72% superior court users do not know online services exist, 81% never seek information re their cases, and of those that do, less than 10% seek info from lawyers. Overall, 30% users find it difficult to access information from courts.

Access to Court Facilities: Majority of the court users find it very easy to find where to go in court, and the major reason for this is because they have been to the same facility before.

Efficiency and Fairness of Services: 46% court users are served on arrival at the court, however, there are significant delays in the conduct of court hearings resulting in longer waiting times for the users.

Overall Quality of Service at the Superior Courts: The majority of the court users are satisfied with the quality of services, and consider staff to be competent and helpful. (Access to Justice after NSAP 2019-2023 Reforms)

We end the 16 Days campaign by calling on all stakeholders to start speaking about the various other forms of #ViolenceAgainstWomen; trafficking, prostitution, and forced marriages! And a call to INVEST in #WomenEmpowerment and #GenderBasedViolence to create lasting solutions.
