A paper by my colleagues in the CS and Stats department and an amazing Ph.D. student, Prathamesh Dharangutte, on DP range queries also came out yesterday. They tackle the very difficult question of statistical transparency and consistency using correlated noise. arxiv.org/abs/2402.07066

Just submitted: "Ahead of the Count" an algorithm for probabilistic predictions of Ranked Choice (IRV) elections based on polling or other kinds of data. Written with friend & colleague Nick Kapoor. Finally a paper I can actually explain to normal people! 🧵(1/9)

It's been an exciting last two days at the #RutgersU #DIMACS Workshop on RMT + ML. A half day of talks remain -- recordings for most talks should be up in around 2 weeks! Many thanks to U.S. National Science Foundation for their support! rmt4ai.github.io

People complain about pay-to-publish journals and how much of a scam they are. Aren't conferences kind of the same way? N thousand dollars (registration, hotel, airfare) to present work that has probably been lightly reviewed to a small audience who are only half-paying attention
