Let the colour revolution begin! The ERC Chromotope symposium #ColourMatters has started at Trinity College, coinciding with the #ColourRevolution exhibition at Ashmolean Museum.

Two of our committee members (independently) attended ERC Chromotope symposium #ColourMatters Trinity College this week & had a chance to visit #ColourMatters Ashmolean Museum - a fascinating few days discussing colour in #19C & a wonderful exhibition. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Really enjoyed Colour Matters conference Trinity College. A perfect meeting ground for science and arts scholarships, showcased in a fantastic exhibition on victorian design and fashion Ashmolean Museum. Thank you organisers ERC Chromotope!

Belated highlights from the COLOUR REVOLUTION #exhibition Ashmolean Museum, open until 18 Feb: Burne-Jones's 'Angel with Lute'; Sandys's 'Vivien'; Watts's 'The Wife of Pygmalion' and the marble bust that inspired it; and Turner's watercolour palette case, spectacles and knives.

A short piece on blots, dots and spots in colour history for Chromobase, database of the ERC Chromotope project which explores the cultural impact of new colours in the 1850s: 'Mary Gartside’s abstract afterlife? Blots in George Barnard’s paint manual' chromobase.huma-num.fr/narratives/mar…
