Pelagia Koutsantoni PhD candidate in Remote Sensing at NTUA is finishing her four-month secondment at CloudFerro in Warsaw. She learned to apply their expertise and technology for her research on ionospheric effects on L-band InSAR measurements which are present over the Arctic

NTUA-RSLab presents results of the use of low-frequency SAR data to study the thaw-freeze cycles in Arctic regions. They highlight the incredible potential of L-band SAR data for monitoring soil moisture at depths closer to plant roots—a capability not achievable with C-band SAR

Alexandru Berbecariu, PhD candidate from University of Bucharest, is currently undertaking a research internship at CloudFerro. His work focuses on exploring the use of geospatial data and satellite imagery to monitor coastal evolution and ecosystem change in Arctic environment

By providing precise geolocation information, GNSS facilitates the validation of SAR-derived measurements, such as surface displacement and ground deformation—key indicators of permafrost dynamics, particularly in relation to the seasonal freeze-thaw cycle of the active layer.

Marina Vîrghileanu, an assistant professor at the University of Bucharest, is currently completing her secondment at YETITMOVES SRL in Pavia, Italy, as part of the EO-PERSIST project. Her work specifically centers on Task 3.1: Land Degradation.
