Our students from Alabama spent the morning on Wall Street at the New York Stock Exchange learning about stocks, finance, and trading.

I was honored to have been a guest speaker today during the National Conference of State Legislators to share the successful bipartisan efforts I have led to address gun violence in Alabama. Together, we can create safer communities for all.

I first moved to Montgomery in 2012 to serve as a Teach for America educator at Lee — now Percy Julian — High School. So it was extra special to present them with a state grant today to support the amazing school and students!

I am devastated to have found out that one of the victims of this weekend’s shooting was Jeremiah Morris a 17 year old student at McIntyre that I had the privilege of meeting last year. Please join me in praying during this extremely difficult time for all who knew and loved him.

I’m grateful the City of Montgomery & the County voted to support Jackson Hospital. Other cities/counties that the hospital serves & the state should also pledge their fair share of support. Together, we can keep the hospital open & work to ensure it stays on a sustainable path.
