This morning, the RDC Kasese District launched the rehabilitation of Kirembo-Kasemire and Kajwenge-Kiburara roads (total 10km) in Kisinga Sub-County, Kasese District. It is a project under the Ministry of Works and Transport aimed at improving rural roads accessibility.

This afternoon I participated in a panel discussion on Harnessing Sustainable Construction Business organized by UNABCEC at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala. I congratulate the new Board of UNABCEC that was elected today at the 28th. AGM and wish them all the best.

This evening I visited St. Matthew COU Archdeaconary in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District. It is a new Archdeaconary that is still constructing the church building and staff quarters. I was met by Archdeacon and Head of Laity.

On my way from Nyakahya near DRC border last Tuesday, I was stopped at Kinyamaseke by local leaders who were complaining of a cross culvert at Km 19 along Kikorongo-Mpondwe road. The area near the culvert floods whenever it rains. The matter is being addressed by UNRA Kasese.

Two weeks ago, the Construction Industry Development Committee (CIDC) was launched to advise on all matters related to the Construction Industry. I gave the background and functions of CIDC; and tendered advice to the Committee. Happy New Year to CIDC members. Wish you the best.

I presented the project report for rehabilitation of Olilim-Guyaguya-Angelepo-Adacari road (24.5km) last Monday at Olilim, Palam Sub-County, Katakwi District. H.E. the Vice President presided over the ground breaking ceremony. Thanks to you all who graced the ceremony.

Gomba District Council has named the section of Kalamba-Maddu road in Maddu Sub-County after me in appreciation of the support towards improvement of roads in the District. I am really humbled and this reminds me of my walk with six others from Kiganda-Maddu-Kifampa in Sept 1985.

I participated in the commissioning of Kyabahanga Bridge this afternoon at Nyakarambi Primary School, Rubirizi District. The Chief Guest was Hon. Jackson Kafuuzi, Deputy Attorney General. This Bridge is a vital link between Ibanda and Rubirizi District.

Yesterday, I presented the Project Report for Kyabahanga Bridge during the commissioning and handover ceremony at the Bridge Site, Bwambara Sub-County, Rukungiri District. The 30m span concrete was funded by GoU at 10.4bn. The Hon. Minister of Security was the Guest of Honour.

My Keynote Note Address at the World Engineering Day event, last Friday was entitled "Leveraging Engineering as a Catalyst to Development". A case was made for the Engineering Index to be adopted as a key Development Indicator. H.E. the Vice President was the Guest of Honour.

Yesterday, I represented Hon. Eng. Hillary Onek, Patron UIPE at the Thanksgiving for UIPE max at ASC, Nakasero. I called upon Ugandans, particularly the young people, to join the engineering profession and contribute to the development of the country.

I presented the project report for upgrading of Kakiri-Masulita-Mawale road (23.1km) last Wednesday, 18th January 2023 at Masulita Town Council, Wakiso District at the Ground Breaking Function presided over by the Hon. Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala.

I accompanied the Minister of State for Works, Hon. Musa Ecweru for Ground Breaking for construction of Karujumba Bridge in Kitabu Sub-County, Kasese District last Friday. The bridge will replace one damaged by floods in 1966. Lack of it was a big political issue in the area.

Today, Uganda celebrates World Engineering Day. The main celebration is being held at Hotel Africana, Kampala. The Chief Guest is the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Hamson Obua. I presented the Keynote Address on Engineering Innovation for a more Resilient World-Uganda's Experience.

Congratulations to all Engineers upon this year's World Engineering Day, which was celebrated today at the Nile Hall, Hotel Africana, Kampala under the theme: Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World. I presented the Keynote Address on Uganda's perspective of the theme.

I led a technical team from the Ministry of Works and Transport this morning on a reconnaissance survey of the access road to Jacana Safari Lodge in QE National Park, Rubirizi District, to inform its planned improvement.

Yesterday, I witnessed a dream come true. Construction of Moroto Regional Materials Testing Laboratory was among my recommendations to the Ministry when I served as Chief Materials Engineer from 1994 to 1999. The Laboratory was commissioned at a colourful ceremony yesterday.

This afternoon, I am at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, to receive my Certificate for Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. The ceremony is scheduled for 2pm to 5pm, UK time.

I received the Certificate for Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE) of UK from the President of ICE in a ceremony held in Westminster, London, at 4pm this afternoon. FICE is the highest professional qualification in civil engineering and a symbol of excellence.

I presided over the fundraising function for Kisinga Vocational Secondary School in Kasese District this afternoon. We raised funds for a multipurpose building at the School, estimated at a cost of UGX 1.17bn. Today's function raised UGX 70m.
