We ask people to keep to the main tracks when walking through the #NewForest and to keep dogs with them there at this time of year to avoid disturbing rare #GroundNestingBirds or #adders awakening from hibernation and coming out to bask in the sun. 🙏🐣🐍 #StayOnTheTracks

The #NewForest is a really special place, it's home to some of the UK’s rarest wildlife & an amazing place to connect with nature. To help protect it from wildfires, please remember that campfires, BBQs, & outdoor cooking equipment are all banned here. bit.ly/463z490 🙏

At this time of year there are eggs just like these in the #NewForest 🐣🐣 They are laid by #GroundNestingBirds on the open, heathland areas of the Forest. You can support these special birds by staying on the main gravel tracks & keeping dogs with you here🙏 #StayOnTheTracks

Hawthorn trees are prominent across the #NewForest, keep a look out as their white flowers start to bloom. Also known as the May tree it’s associated with May Day celebrations & some believe that it is protected by faery folk! ✨🌳 #FolkloreThursday #MayTree #hawthorn

Looking up. Connecting with nature has a positive impact on our mental health. It can help us feel calmer and less stressed. Forests are an ideal setting to take some time for your wellbeing. 💚🌳 #MindfulMonday #ForestMoment #NewForest

The Knightwood Oak is the largest oak tree in the #NewForest & one of the oldest at over 500 years of age. Our team have upgraded the trail and car park here with accessibility in mind. Thank you to the New Forest NPA for funding this work. #OurWork

4 years ago Forestry England & Wild New Forest began a project to confirm the return of Pine Martens to the #NewForest. Using hidden cameras we now know they are here, breeding, & that the Forest's ancient woodlands are a really important habitat for this tree loving species.
