I actually find this hugely upsetting. Doubtless it was meant to be provocative. They have achieved that. But they have exceeded it: it is desecrating, irreligious, shameful.

Didn’t expect to see this when I approached to the church. Very rare bell tower, having probably one of only three Anglo Saxon stair turrets left in England. Most unusual, so intriguing, sadly church was locked, but must go again to see inside too. All Saints, Hough on the Hill

Not true- a few decades ago parts of the Thames were classed as “biologically dead” due to pollution. While *middle class people* were comfortable most people were working class- millions in the UK lived in slums/direst poverty, died young & worked 14 hour days in manual labour.

Saving our churches is saving something fundamental about Britain itself, the Britain that still believes in fairness, hospitality and humour. The Britain that knows how to queue politely, laugh at itself and show up when someone needs help. The Britain that looks after one

I’m sure having my photo shared in this derogatory way would be devastating if my motivation for getting a PhD was to impress this guy and women-hating friends. Thankfully, it was not. So I can just laugh about it instead. 😊

No Kasia Madera BBC News (UK) first day of Advent isn’t traditional to put up Christmas decorations -Advent is the season of waiting. Trees historically went up on Christmas Eve, and cofe used to set up cribs in churches around 20th Dec, which is when people would decorate at home.

The Sherborne Triptych is a luminous treasure and a testament to the deep legacy of philanthropy charitable giving in England. So what a bitter irony it would be if modern Britain can't find the money to save it for the nation. My latest for the The Telegraph telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/12/0…

“We have become a country and a culture ashamed of its history, and especially of its Christian heritage.” This line, almost at the end of the article, is key to understanding so much of what has gone wrong culturally in Britain recently. 😞
