A 450-yo oak is felled without permission/consultation by Toby Carvery, who falsely claimed it was "dead". A tree alive when The Gunpowder Plot was hatched, which supports a web of 2000+ species, is in pieces. Legal protection for heritage trees needed. enfielddispatch.co.uk/toby-carvery-a…

It’s now confirmed that Toby Carvery did indeed fell the Whitewebbs Oak, on the same day that evidence is emerging the tree may have been 500 years old. The lame excuse they gave that the tree was “dead” is not only false (ecologists have found green buds on the felled branches)

The rain gardens are looking lovely as they come to life again in the warm spring weather.💚 So sad to think that this peaceful scene will be destroyed by traffic when Enfield Council opens up the filter (unnecessarily) to local drivers who ‘demand’ a shortcut. 😢 Journeys and Places Enfield

Whatever else, Pope Francis will be remembered for his defiant stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Despite outside pressure to ‘retract’ or ‘clarify’ his remarks, he stood on the side of humanity against barbarity. “This is cruelty, this is not war.”

When this became public, I remember thinking: Biden could do this, Starmer could, von der Leyen, or Bezos, or Musk - any of these people we have to listen to all the time, could, if they wished, call and listen to someone in Gaza. But they'd never think to. It wouldn't make sense

Historic reason for Tottenham Hotspur route. Started on site of old Edmonton town hall and route ended at Tottenham town hall. Goes way back to first trophy parade. My great grandfather embarrassed himself on that occasion at the High cross! #coys
