I’m excited with this progress. 🤩 We've significantly scaled up our streetlight repair programme with additional teams and security measures to safeguard our staff and infrastructure. These crucial interventions are producing great results. #LetsAct💡

I have just delivered the City of Cape Town’s outright rejection of Eskom’s 44% tariff hike at the Nersa public hearings. We view Eskom’s tariff ask as outrageous, unaffordable and unthinkable. Communities simply cannot afford to pay a cent further toward Eskom inefficiencies.

No need to panic if you're a City-supplied customer. The update programme for City customers is complete. If you're still unsure about your update, call the City's call centre on 0860 103 089 or WhatsApp us on 060 018 1505. Eskom customers should reach out to Eskom directly.

I’ve spent a few evenings with our electricity teams assessing the work that started some nine months when we kickstarted our streetlight programme to increase burn rate levels across the metro. Cape Town is season ready and has a festive glow for both residents and visitors.

Cape Town, we’ve got your back! 🔋 The City will immediately activate two stages of load-shedding protection until 10pm tonight, and from 6am to noon on Saturday. Please monitor City of Cape Town accounts for updates if Eskom's load-shedding persists.

We’re excited about the progress of this project. Not only will it allow us to produce clean energy, it will also stimulate the local economy with an emerging renewable energy sector that will skill & employ young Capetonians in years ahead. A key part of our Energy Strategy.
