Altab Ali was a 25-year-old Bangladeshi worker who was murdered on 4 May 1978, as he walked home from work.

His murder sparked mass protests against racism led by the Bangladeshi community & its allies.

May have just had one of the most soul-destroying shifts in A&E I’ve ever had. How is it ok that people are waiting on a chair for over 2 days for a hospital bed? The moral injury of delivering such poor care is just awful.

I’m an FY2 doctor who does not have a job from August. It’s May & there are very few clinical fellow jobs advertised. Locums are drying up. I applied to med school as a working class student & was the first in my family to go to university. Doctors no longer have job security.

In a bleak world, we can take HOPE from the fact that many young people have more moral sense, more integrity, more moral courage than so many who are older and more comfortable
