#OTD in 1849 London Zoo opened our first Reptile House. ZSL Library and Archives now stand on the site of the first Reptile House and there is a new home for reptiles and amphibians in the the 'Secret Life of Reptiles and Amphibians': londonzoo.org/whats-here/hab… 🐢🦎🐊

#Artist John Gerrard Keulemans was born #OTD in 1842. These are examples of original #artworks in our collections. He worked on many of the illustrations in our scientific publication "Proceedings of the Zoological Society" now continued as "Journal of Zoology".
