I know this seems dumb but this is actually really smart coming off the heels of the Sinners release that saw showings sold out for the whole run and only to lose the screen to Thunderbolts. Gauge demand early and extend that window like crazy (also put some new 70mm screens in?)

A total misunderstanding of the films audience, the pivot to sci-fi is not what they were looking for in the least + false sense of demand pushes the movie out of January and into the crowded summer season.
